3 Ways to Practice Gratitude Daily

The season of Thanksgiving is finally upon us. For me not only does that mean slowing down to enjoy heaping plates of delicious food with my dearest friends and family; but, it also means taking time to appreciate and consider all I have to be thankful for.

The simple practice of tapping into sources of gratitude in my life always makes me feel so good– inspired, happy, positive, like I belong!

And I am not alone, in fact there’s decades of research highlighting the benefits of gratitude. Just a few include:

Amazing, right!? Gratitude is an incredible practice we can benefit from practicing not only on the holiday of Thanksgiving, but daily.  Below are 3 ways you can practice gratitude this Thanksgiving, and everyday!

Gain a fresh Perspective

Set an alarm on your phone to go off a few different times throughout the day. Whenever it goes off, pause and list 5 things you’re thankful for in that moment. It could be an appreciation for a view, a person, an object, an idea, anything! Taking time to practice thankfulness in different scenes, will help get your creativity moving, and will most likely make you realize there’s a lot more to be thankful for than you might think!  

 

Track your Gratitude

Keep a gratitude journal. At the end of the day take 2-5 minutes to jot down things you’re thankful for! Take the time every once in a while to look back over all of the things you’ve written down, and be encouraged.

 

Voice your Gratitude

When you feel gratitude or appreciation for someone, don’t hold it in! Let them know. It won’t only brighten their day, but it will brighten yours too. And you’ll get in the habit of affirming and building up those who surround you.
